A good chunk of you are probably looking up at the title of this article and wondering how someone like Tegan and Sara could be considered underrated. For that matter, it's weird to even call them a rock band at all, since some of their biggest hits from records like Heartthrob and the song Everything Is Awesome are as pop as they come. Long before they made one of the most endearing songs in history, they were originally a pretty amazing indie rock outfit.

Then again, this isn't exactly the crunchiest of bands even when they were rough around the edges. On albums like So Jealous, you can still here the pop band that they were always going to be sprinkled in there, only with a more snotty attitude added in. Even though this fits more in the adult alternative side of the conversation, this is still some of the best the genre has to offer, from frustrated songs of love to carefree jams about having a good time.

And it's not like both Tegan and Sara don't have the respect of the rock community either, with The White Stripes covering the song Walking With a Ghost and their latest release bringing the guitars back to give their old material some new life. The pop industry might pay the bills for right now, but Tegan and Sara still certainly have the chops if they want to head back to the rock sphere.
