10 Most Underrated Guns N' Roses Songs
6. You Ain't The First - Use Your Illusion I
One of the biggest strengths to Guns N Roses' sound was just how full on it sounded when you turned on the radio. Even when they decided to take things down a notch with Sweet Child O Mine, they sent you on a journey with that song and made for a badass bridge with one of Slash's greatest guitar solos. So when they decide to strip everything down to just acoustics, they were...actually a lot better than you probably expected.
Sandwiched in between the more extravagant tracks on Use Your Illusion I, You Ain't the First is a pure acoustic strum along song, with lyrics that seem to be abut the typical heartbreaker behavior that you see a million rock stars tackling. While this kind of thing could have seemed tired and played out at this point, there's actually a bit of charm hearing the rest of the band sing along on this song.
Considering how much has been documented about what a nightmare this record was to actually get done, this feels like one of the few moments where the band is just jamming for the hell of it and actually coming up with a few bits of magic in between everything. Though there's not much more of this present in the rest of their catalog, this is probably the closest to a country version of Guns N Roses that you're ever going to get.
