10 Most Underrated Hard Rock Albums Of The 2000's
2. Favorite Worst Nightmare - Arctic Monkeys
Out of all the fresh faces to emerge from the rock scene in the 2000's, Arctic Monkeys were one of the first bands that came out of nowhere. First emerging from the English underground, the band was one of the few acts who blew up thanks to file-sharing. While the band's debut Whatever People Say I Am... is known as one of the greatest debut albums of the decade, Favourite Worst Nightmare is almost on the same level.
With new bassist Nick O'Malley in tow, the band presents some of their most infectious blends of chaos and tunefulness. Throughout songs like "Brianstorm" and "D is For Dangerous," the band's tendency for barraging you with sound is only matched by Alex Turner's snide way of describing certain scourges of society. Once you listen to the off-kilter weirdness of something like "Teddy Picker," you'll completely understand why these guys eventually worked with rock luminaries like Josh Homme later down the road.
The album also features some of the group's greatest single cuts like the poppy romp "Fluorescent Adolescent" and the mammoth closing track "505." The band may have bigger hits before and after this album, but right in the middle is where you find them pumping out their real classics.
