10 Most Underrated Kanye West Songs

6. Wouldn't Leave

Coming from his 2018 release "ye", the most recently released song on this list is also one of the most honest ones. It's definitely one of the more subdued and subtle songs in his catalogue. It's a song about his devotion to his wife, and he references her complete loyalty to him despite his faults, be they public or private.

This is Kanye devoid of all ego, which is a rare occasion in of itself. His message to the world being lost in translation is a theme that has appared on a number of occasions in his music, and it rears its head again. "You want me workin' on my messagin'/ When I'm thinkin' like Gerge Jetson/ But soundin' like George Jefferson". He feels as if his ideas are futuristic and progressive, but his methods of articulating ideas are outdated and almost archaic.

He also says "Just imagine if they caught me on a wild day" after referencing his controversial comment where he said "Slavery was a choice". With this line, he is saying the public don't even see him on his worst days, where his battles with mental illness and personal issues are at their most feriocious. Regardless of whether you think some of his actions are problematic or not, its hard to deny the willingess to deal with his issues head on.

Wouldn't Leave is a landmark song in Kanye's career. It's easily one of his most honest and personal statements yet.
