10 Most Underrated Members Of Legendary Rock Bands
4. Meg White - The White Stripes
And now we come to a woman who has become the permanent laughing stock of the '00s rock scene. For whatever reason, everyone seems to dunk on Meg White, seeing her as the weak link of the White Stripes and coming up with beats so simple that an infant could probably play them with enough practice. But here's a little secret for ya: if Meg White was removed, the White Stripes could never have happened.
From day one, the mindset behind the band was to take things back to the bare essentials of rock and roll. Although the controversy surrounding the sister/brother dynamic of the duo was in question, it was always about going back to a child like sense of innocence every time they played. In that respect, Meg may have been the queen of knowing what a song needed to come across well.
Granted, it's not like she's the most technical drummer in the world, with most of these beats sounding a lot more neanderthalic than something like Danny Carey from around the same time. As the years go by though, have you ever noticed that Jack White's solo work has never come close to measuring to what he did with the White Stripes? Meg may be gone from the public eye and Jack may have moved on, but she sure isn't forgotten if we're still talking about those early records today.
