10 Most Underrated Metallica Songs

5. Damage Inc.

Given its status as one of the greatest metal albums of all time, it's really tough trying to find anything underrated about Master of Puppets. From the blistering title track to the stomp of "Battery," almost the entire track listing has been praised as some of the best thrash metal has to offer. At the same time, "Damage Inc." doesn't seem to get nearly the love it deserves as one of the best album closers in metal history.

When it came to the experience of an album, Metallica always knew the importance of starting and finishing strong, with this record being no exception. After a few bass strains coming from the late Cliff Burton, the track goes from sweeping elegance to thrash metal rager in the blink of an eye, as Hetfield leads the charge to pummel you into the ground.

The intensity of the track is made all the more apparent when the chorus kicks in, where Hetfield's voice goes from a scream to a subtle whisper of the song's title. The song continues on with great riffs before one last charge of the chorus, where the band brings the track home with stomping power chords. And just like that, Metallica have quickly pulled the plug on their own album, leaving you beaten, exhausted, and dying to play it again.
