10 Most Underrated My Chemical Romance Songs

3. Mama - The Black Parade

When the Patient finally reaches the halfway point of the album, he's come to grips with the fact that he's going to die. And it doesn't look like there's anything that he's going to miss in this life either, considering he cut off ties with his friends in I Don't Love You and passively asks everyone to collect his stuff in Cancer. There's one family member we've yet to see though, and it's a doozy.

Being the first time that we've seen Mother War on the record, The Patient has come to the conclusion that there is no Heaven and that we're all condemned to spend the rest of our days in Hell. While the song can get a little too exposition heavy by telling us about his time in the war, it only enhances the despair this guy has for the afterlife. He's already seen some horrific stuff with his friends, so what could be worse in store on the other side?

This is also the most well constructed song on the album as well, building to a gigantic climax in the chorus before exploding into one of the most punishing riffs on the entire record. Complete with a call back to the chorus of Welcome to the Black Parade, this is where My Chem set the bar for what they could do. I mean, only the professionals can put someone like Liza Minneli on a track and make it sound like the apocalypse marching to your doorstep.
