10 Most Underrated Oasis Songs
2. Cast No Shadow - What's The Story Morning Glory
There's a reason why so little of songs from Oasis' first two records have made this list. It should be pretty obvious, right? Those albums have gone down in history as stone cold classics, so there's no real reason for them to be considered underrated since they've already gotten their praise. If there's one song that's worth evaluating from the bunch though, it would have to be Cast No Shadow.
Being one of the first songs that Noel had demoed for the What's the Story Morning Glory sessions, this is one of the more somber cuts to have actually made the record. Between all of the feel good vibes coming from songs like Don't Look Back In Anger and Roll With It, there's a lot more angst in this song, as our protagonist is almost desensitized to life and seems to just be taking up space in his life rather than living.
Though this is far from the Gallaghers' personality, it's definitely something that we've all been through in our adolescence, with many people thinking that they have nowhere to run and that their place in the world is never going to come to fruition. Noel himself has said that this song's energy reminds him of Pink Floyd, but those lyrics are saying something different. This is about as close to an emo Oasis song that you could really hope for.
