10 Most Underrated Oasis Songs

3. I Hope I Think I Know - Be Here Now

Most of the anti hype that has been generated about Be Here Now seems a little too overblown at this point. Considering how many times Noel Gallagher himself has dragged this album through the mud, you'd think that this is the one album that killed rock and roll completely for the next generation. And they'd be right in thinking the album is a touch overblown, were it not for this one immaculate track.

Out of all the criticisms that have been thrown this album's way about being too long, I Hope I Think I Know is the most accessible of the bunch, clocking in at a short 5 minutes of material. And it's a good thing it does, because this is exactly the kind of song that deserves to be short, bringing in as many power pop flourishes as you can think of. Noel has never been a snob about his musical taste, and you can hear the bubblegum flavor of some of his influences showing through on here.

Whereas most of the sounds of power pop would have normally come from people like the Jam in England, this feels more like Oasis' attempt at making a Cheap Trick song, with everything polished to a sonic sheen. Though the end result of Be Here Now is still a bit of a mess, you can still hear the classic band that we all know peeking through the cracks on this song.
