10 Most Underrated Ozzy Osbourne Songs
9. Dee - Blizzard Of Ozz
Randy Rhoads is one of those few musicians who comes along once in a lifetime. Quickly outgrowing the Los Angeles scene with Quiet Riot, Rhoads was the one who really gave Ozzy a shot in the arm in the early days, bringing together some of the most savage riffs of his career on songs like Suicide Solution and Mr. Crowley. On the other hand, Rhoads' talents were bound to extend further than just rock shredding.
During the sessions for Blizzard of Ozz, Rhoads used a little chunk of the studio time to put together a classical piece on a nylon string guitar, written as an ode to his mother who taught him the instrument. Though something like this didn't really fit in with the rest of the album, Ozzy and the rest of the band thought enough of the tune to include in between the hits like I Don't Know and Goodbye to Romance.
As it stands, this is one of the few times where an instrumental piece works in a metal context, almost putting the listener in a 16th century mindset before throwing us into the madness that is to come. Instead of just a few seconds of noodling, this is the kind of musical piece that every metalhead comes to once they have their classical chops under their belt.
