10 Most Underrated Ozzy Osbourne Songs
4. Let Me Hear You Scream - Scream
There was really no reason for Ozzy to continue on towards the end of the '00s. Though he still had a fairly strong command of his craft in a studio environment, his strained relationship with the touring life and the departure of Zakk Wylde made many question as to whether we really needed a new Ozzy album. Even though Ozzy could have gone into retirement at this stage, Scream's debut single was a harder punch than it really needed to be.
On this outing, we have the arrival of new guitarist Gus G., who certainly has his own flair to his playing. Though his bends and solo technique are not nearly the same as Wylde's trademark licks, it still does a good job at blending well with Ozzy's vocals to create a nice hard-edged tone. It also helps that Ozzy is actually doing a fairly competent job behind the vocals.
Despite being clearly electronically assisted in places, there are still some really strong notes Ozzy hits on this, giving way to one of the best choruses he's had in ages. The minute you hear him sing the title, it's clear that Ozzy is channeling that same demonic persona that he played so well in the early days. There's pretty much no way for Ozzy to relive those glory years now, but if the songs still sound like this, I'll gladly take what I can get.
