10 Most Underrated Paul McCartney Songs
6. Tomorrow - Wild Life
Wild Life by Wings is not exactly a high point when talking about the best of McCartney's solo career. Across every song on this debut, you can tell that Paul and Linda were just starting to get the ball rolling with this new lineup, given that most of these songs result in nothing more than just decent jam sessions. However, the album does pick up a bit of steam towards the back half.
Though a lot has been said about McCartney's apology to John Lennon on the album closer Dear Friend, the first great Wings song rears its head on Tomorrow, which sounds like it could have been a hit single in Paul's solo catalog. Set to a slow piano melody, this song feels like the counterpart to something like Another Day, complete with some of the most beautiful singing Paul had ever laid down up until this point. Even though these lyrics are certainly nothing new for the Cute Beatle, this is one example of where those "silly love songs" work in his favor.
Then again, it's hard to really separate this song from the album, what with its lyrical masterpieces like Bip Bop and Mumbo. While most of Wild Life tends to feel more like a decent demo than a proper album, Tomorrow is one of those McCartney gems that you need to dig up yesterday.
