10 Most Underrated Singers In Modern Rock
4. Dan Andriano
He may be overshadowed by Matt Skiba, but Dan Andriano does much of the heavy lifting in Alkaline Trio and his voice is irreplaceable.
Punk icons Alkaline Trio have been at the top of the genre since 2001 and their 2018 release shows they still stand tall amongst a crowded scene. One thing that has always separated the trio from the pack (minus Blink 182, ironically), is the dual singers in the form of Skiba and Andriano, both of whom have very distinct voices.
While Skiba has a more classic punk snarl and yell, Andriano's voice is much more melodic, smooth, and more of a croon. There's an almost-nasally quality to Andriano's voice, as well as a slight lisp, that could easily be annoying yet it's anything but.
He doesn't sing as many songs as Skiba but that just makes his stand out more; see Young Lovers, A Message For Kathleen, I'm Dying Tomorrow, and Broken Wing.
