10 Most Underrated Singers In Modern Rock
3. Bert McCracken
The lead singer of emo/punk icons The Used, McCracken has been screaming into a taped-up mic for years now, and long may it continue.
His voice can jump from soft lullaby to ear-splitting scream in a second. And it's all there on The Used's catalogue; Cry, Upper Falls, Take It Away, Kissing You Goodbye, Choke Me, All That I've Got, Over and Over Again, etc.
McCraken's voice is a large reason as to why The Used have outlasted most of their contemporaries, including My Chemical Romance. His voice is part Kurt Cobain, part Tim McIlrath, but in all honesty it's wholly unique.
He may not win any awards for hitting the high notes, but he'll make you feel a whole range of emotions, from tears to blinding range. And that's better than any award anyways!
