10 Most Underrated Twenty One Pilots Songs

5. Morph - Trench (2018)

Twenty One Pilots took their sound to the next level with 2018’s Trench. They kept their signature genre-hopping, but the album is much more cohesive than any of their previous work.

‘Morph’ is the third song on the album, and it’s easy to overlook sometimes given that it’s wedged between four singles. Though it doesn’t have as much punch as some of the more well-known tracks from Trench, the atmosphere is second to none.

Lounge jazz is mixed in with a liberal amount of R&B funk, giving the song a unique identity that’s unlike anything the band has ever produced. And when Joseph’s falsetto comes along during the chorus, ‘Morph’ really starts to light up.

The ending is also a key highlight. Dun’s drums come through in full force here. He thwacks the kit with plenty of power, leaving the listener with a wickedly enjoyable outro.

You’d be mad not to give this one a listen. Trench is full of stellar tunes, and ‘Morph’ is right up there with the best.
