10 Most Underrated Twenty One Pilots Songs
3. Not Today - Blurryface (2015)
The penultimate track on Blurryface doesn't get enough love. This catchy number is packed with dynamic change-ups and catchy vocals.
Twenty One Pilots are known for writing happy-sounding songs with dark lyrics, and 'Not Today' is probably the best example of this. Themes such as depression and isolation are juxtaposed with upbeat piano chords and poppy vocal melodies. The drumming from Dun also gives the song plenty of bounce and power.
Though the whole song is essentially one massive hook, the climax is outstanding. Dun's skills with the trumpet give this section a sense of grandeur and euphoria, and the multiple vocal tracks are also a nice touch.
Given how great the ending is, 'Not Today' would be perfect for a live show. Yet the song is rarely played in front of crowds. It's a shame, but hopefully, it'll make a return to the band's setlist at some point in the future.
