10 Most Unforgettable Super Bowl Halftime Performances Ever

6. U2 (2002)

The first Super Bowl halftime show after the tragic events of 9/11 was a very poignant and moving performance. Irish rockers U2 took to the stage in front of 73,000 fans and did a set in tribute to the victims of the tragedy. Bono and the boys can be accused of being a lot of things but, on this occasion, they deflected the attention away from themselves and did the right thing on the night. Beautiful Day, MLK and finally Where The Streets Have No Name brought blew the roof off of the Louisiana Superdome while reminding everyone never to forget those who died on 9/11. While the band played MLK and Where The Streets Have No Name, the names of the victims appeared on the screen as Bono frantically ran around stage. At the conclusion of the performance, Bono lifted up his jacket to reveal an American flag on the lining. It was a nice touch and capped off a wonderful performance. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iBzdittT3c4
