6. Phil Anselmo and Vinnie Paul
Most metalheads tend to look at their music as a bit of a brotherhood at the end of the day. Even though the public might not be ready to embrace this heavier side of music, at least we have each other to work off of and bang our heads with. Just like any other family though, sometimes you have falling-outs that you can never truly recover from.
In the midst of Pantera's messy breakup after Reinventing the Steel, Phil Anselmo ended up going on a few rants about the Abbott Brothers, with one message even alluding to giving Dimebag Darrell a serious beatdown. Then Dimebag was killed...and things got way too real way too fast. With the battle lines drawn, Anselmo was not invited to Darrell's funeral and was excluded from the entire Abbott dynasty for the foreseeable future.
Even when he tried to reconcile with Dime's long time girlfriend, things were still a bit rough when confronting the institution that helped birth him. Along with playing a handful of Dimebash shows in tribute to his long lost brother, Phil is still clearly hurting about the whole ordeal and is looking for closure for the entire thing. Seeing as Vinnie Paul is no longer in the equation to make amends anymore, it looks like that Pantera will remain buried in the past for good.
