8. Janis Joplin

One undeniable truth about Janis Joplin, as is the case with many musicians who tragically pass away at such a young age, is that she leaves behind a legacy which will always be enshrined. However, due to its unfinished nature; we shall forever be wanting more. Dead by the age of twenty-seven to a tragic heroin overdose, Joplin blatantly had lots more to share and plenty more to say, and so affording her the hypothetical means to share with us her creativity and opinions via the medium of an autobiography would most definitely result in a fascinating and insightful read. Known as both The Queen of Rock n Roll and The Queen of Psychedelic Soul, Joplin found herself in a unique position as an influential and highly-regarded female figure of prominence during the ever-fascinating 1960s. While her career was filled with promise, she also wrestled with a dark, lonely and tragic side which ultimately led to her untimely death. A compelling character in so many ways, Joplin could also share with us her unique experience of being the headline act at the legendary Woodstock.
