10 Music Reunions That Were Doomed From The Start

1. The Doors

We finish on another band that did not know what to do when their lead singer died. Much like INXS, The Doors initially tried to carry on after Jim Morrison's death in 1971.

Their first stint at reforming came with the release of an album in 1978 using old poetry of Morrison's, backed by music from the band. Surprisingly it was something of a hit.

What was more surprising though was the announcement in 2002 that The Doors were reforming again. The Doors Of The 21st Century, to give them their proper name. Original members Roy Manzarek and Robby Krieger were joined this time by The Cult's Ian Astbury on vocals. They also had Stewart Copeland from The Police on drums for a short period.

It took a legal challenge from original drummer John Denmore to stop them using The Doors name. He argued "It can't be The Doors without Jim, ... It could be The Windows, The Hinges, I don't care, as long as it's not The Doors."

Their live performances were not very well received either. In one review The New York Times stated "As travesties go, it could have been worse." Ouch.
