10 Music Reunions That Were Doomed From The Start

2. INXS

Creed Band
WEA

What does a band do when their lead singer dies? Do they decide to call it quits with the knowledge that their most famous member, and therefore the public face of the band, has gone or do they decide to hold a talent contest on television to find his replacement? For some barely understandable this is exactly what the surviving members of INXS agreed to do in 2004.

Fifteen contestants vied to be the replacement for the sadly departed Michael Hutchence on Rock Star: INXS. Eventually Canadian singer JD Fortune would win the competition. An album and a world tour soon followed and for a brief period it might have seemed like the Australian rockers were heading back to the big time.

Things were just not the same without their old singer, though. In the ensuing years JD Fortune would leave and rejoin the band on numerous occasions, finally calling it a day in 2011. The rest of the band would stop playing live a year later.
