10 Musical Artists Who Never Got To Become Superstars
5. Jason White - Green Day
Anyone even remotely familiar with Green Day probably recognize Jason White as just the guy who plays guitar while Billie Joe Armstrong plays the role of rock frontman. Ever since the Warning era, Jason's role in the band has always been as nothing more than a workhorse on the road, not really showing up on a full blown record all that often. Though that was about to change at the turn of the 2010's, Jason got more than his fair share of bad luck catching up with him.
Despite becoming a four piece band for the Trilogy albums, Jason never really got his chance to shine on these songs, feeling more like a beef up for the guitars than anything else. While some of this might come down to the fact that Billie Joe was strung out during some of the recording, it still stings that he never got to leave his mark the way he should have.
No matter though...he could easily prove himself on the next record, right? Wrong. Midway through the touring for the album, White contracted cancer and decided that it was better to move back to his supporting role for the band than become a long standing contributor to the music. Even though the music industry can be too cruel sometimes, Jason has more than earned his spot as a member of Green Day even if he doesn't show up in the liner notes of the albums.
