10 Musical Reunions That Were A Disaster

7. Van Hagar

There's always a certain stripe of Van Halen fan who despises everything that this group has done without David Lee Roth. Though they may have a point when talking about the misfire that is Van Halen III, the iteration of the group with Sammy Hagar at the helm proved to be just as strong regardless, with songs like Right Now and Dreams holding up as true classics. When it came time to fire up the hair metal machine again though, Hagar had a different story to tell.

Going out in the early '00s, Hagar was much more concerned with the well-being of VH going forward once they took to the road. Aside from a few new songs thrown onto a greatest hits compilation, Hagar was not happy about the shape that Eddie was in when it came time to tour. In one of the darker periods of Van Halen history, Hagar had talked about Eddie really not taking care of himself on the tour, instead turning into a shell of what he once was.

Even though Eddie would find sobriety and come out on the other side later, it would be without Hagar, instead reuniting with David Lee Roth and adding his son Wolfgang to the lineup on bass to rock the world all over again. For as much concern as Hagar may have had for his former bandmate, he ended up being the sacrificial lamb that brought the guitar genius back into the world.
