10 Musicians That Got Seriously Injured Onstage
3. Clown Goes Eyeless
It's pretty surprising that Slipknot haven't had more injuries from the kind of shows they play every night. From the kind of pyro that could level a city to how much of their anger they take out on each other, almost every member of the band has at least one story of something going wrong on stage and the scars to prove it as well. Clown has always taken that kind of risk as a given for their kind of music though, so he may have been the most equipped to get really messed up on tour.
In a great twist of irony, the band were tearing through Eyeless from their debut album when Clown accidentally smacked his head on a drum riser and split open his entire face. As the rest of the band kept things going, Clown could barely contain himself in his mask, with people escorting him off the stage and getting him to the back of the venue to get medical attention. By the time he got shot up with painkillers though, he was only too happy to watch the rest of his band play...until he actually got to the hospital.
To get his face back to normal, he needed 15 stitches on the inside of his face to get all of the damage fixed, which involved him spending a few days on tour with a baseball-sized ball of gauze strapped to his face to help everything heal properly. Most bands might be able to deal with a few broken bones here and there, but this is the kind of injury that feels like it's more suited to someone who survived war. Then again, it's Slipknot live, so basically the same thing.
