10 Musicians That Got Seriously Injured Onstage
2. Dave Grohl Breaks Leg
The idea of letting your fans down because of an injury isn't really an idea that Dave Grohl takes all that lightly. He knows the kind of energy that comes with a great live show, and there's no way he's leaving the stage until every fan is having the time of their lives in their seats. You need a lot of adrenaline to get to that level though, and that adrenaline got the better of Dave during one of the Foos' stadium tours.
As the band tore through the first songs of the set, Grohl misjudged the lip of the stage during Monkey Wrench and fell straight onto concrete, which broke his leg and dislocated his ankle in one go. After promising to sort everything out backstage and come back to the people, the band kept going with another song as Dave had a doctor put his ankle back in place. While this would normally mean Dave having to sit out the rest of the gig as he went to the hospital, that wasn't on his agenda, bringing the medic who was holding his foot in place onto the stage to keep it stable as he tore through the rest of the set.
Even though this meant that the band had to take some time out of their tour to get Dave some proper medical care, he wasn't going to overlook the fans either, creating an entire frontman throne for himself where he could keep his leg in a cast and rock out as well. You can break the man's bones, but you're going to need something a lot stronger if you're trying to break his spirit.
