10 Musicians That Were Kicked Out Of Their Own Band

7. Ozzy Osbourne - Black Sabbath

In the early days of Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne was over half of the reason why most people started to pay attention. Aside from the massive riffs from Tony Iommi, the pure despair and scary timbre in Ozzy's voice combined the perfect amount of blues and rock and roll to create the ideal version of the metal frontman. Even though that should have been enough, all it takes is a few too many hits to put you on shaky ground.

Granted, Sabbath were never exactly schoolboys when it came to abusing substances. Hell, one of their greatest albums Master of Reality is known as one of the foundations for stoner metal going forward. As time went on though, Ozzy found himself increasingly out of step with the rest of the group, with albums like Technical Ecstasy being some of the more uninspired moments in his career.

By the time Sabbath eventually got to the end of the '70s, Ozzy wasn't even the main draw at shows any more, with Iommi taking center stage while Osbourne was put off on the side to belt out the lyrics. After eventually parting ways to draft in Ronnie James Dio, Ozzy managed to pull off the impossible by turning in one of the most impressive solo careers in heavy metal history. Even though Osbourne should have been down for the count, going from rock and roll casualty to living legend is one of the most perfect "everybody wins" scenarios for metal.
