10 Musicians That Were Kicked Out Of Their Own Band

6. Randy Meisner - Eagles

There's not really a whole lot to get worked up about when it comes to the Eagles. Since over half of their music is about the free living and fun loving lifestyle taking place on the sunny streets of California, why would anyone think of internal drama or feuding creeping its way into the fold? Well, it sometimes comes down to when you just refuse to do your job.

As the years on the road went on, bassist Randy Meisner began to get more and more critical of his singing voice compared to the rest of the band. Being the highest vocalist in the group, it was all on Randy to hit the high notes on both harmony and lead vocals, which came to a head every night when he had to sing his signature song Take it To the Limit. Despite his wishes to take it out of the set, Glenn Frey insisted to keep it in, knowing that thousands of fans were coming to hear Randy hit those signature high notes.

Towards the halfway point of the Hotel California tour though, Randy had had enough of his shining moment, refusing to return to the stage for the encore. Getting into a brawl with Frey backstage, Randy flew off to greener pastures shortly afterwards, with Timothy B. Schmidt replacing him for the last string of dates and the album the Long Run. Although the Eagles always had a shifting lineup, this was the moment that really signaled the beginning of the end.
