The idea of kicking someone out of Metallica for drinking too much seemed pretty silly in the band's hell raising prime. I mean, you don't get the affectionate nickname Alcoholica from your fanbase and expect to live the clean living lifestyle from day to day. However, there is a fine line between what kind of drunk you are, and Dave Mustaine found himself on the wrong side of it all too often.

During Metallica's journey to the East Coast to meet with their future managers, Mustaine really started to show his ugly side at each road stop, oftentimes trashing the houses of the people they were staying with and getting into way too much trouble than the thrash legends may have bargained for. Despite having a partner in crime in James Hetfield, even Hetfield himself was admitting that things were really out of hand by the time they got to New York.

Waking up with a bus ticket in his hand, Dave arrived in New York only to be let go and sent packing back to San Francisco, after which he formed Megadeth strictly to get back at Metallica for sacking him. Although Megadeth and Metallica have gone on separate creative wavelengths, you can still hear bits and pieces of Mustaine's stuff all over Metallica's early tunes.
