Really...what can happen to Joshua Homme that he hasn't already done to himself over the years? From kicking a photographer and cutting his head open during a show to ingesting almost every drug known to man, the leader of Queens of the Stone Age is certainly no stranger to living on the edge. And yet, the one thing that managed to almost bring him down happened during a routine surgery.

Once doctors started operating on him, it turns out that the years of drug abuse had took its toll on Homme's immune system, causing him to contract a MRSA infection while under the anesthetic. By the time doctors tried to fix a breathing tube in his throat, Homme had gone into cardiac arrest and was "dead" for a few minutes before EMTs were able to revive him.

This didn't stop Homme from getting extremely existential after surgery though, almost quitting music altogether after getting addicted to the painkillers that were supposed to numb him. When he did restart the Queens again though, ...Like Clockwork felt like he had a whole new lease on life, complete with the tunes to back it up. Even with a near death experience, this new era of Queens was Homme coming back with a vengeance.
