10 Musicians Who Died In 2019

8. Scott Walker

While singer Scott Walker had several lengthy stints as a solo act, he's most famous for his role in The Walker Brothers, a pop group that had countless top ten albums and singles, from the emotionally-driven Make It Easy on Yourself, to the slightly more upbeat The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine (Anymore).

Looking back on that solo career though, Walker had one of his songs covered by the great David Bowie, received several awards for his contributions to music, and even briefly dabbled in the feature film industry, recording a song for the Bond film The World is Not Enough, and producing the soundtrack for the 1999 French drama Pola X.

Walker was so passionate about his art that he was even releasing music a year before his death (he scored the 2018 Natalie Portman film Vox Lux), with the singer falling prey to cancer and passing away on 22 March, aged 76.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
