While you probably won't recognise Frederic Riesterer's face, you'll definitely know his work.

The French DJ and producer has worked on some of the biggest pop/dance hits ever produced, with writing credits on The Black Eyed Peas' I Gotta Feeling, Kelis' Acapella, and many of David Guetta's most successful tracks, including Play Hard, When Love Takes Over, Lovers on the Sun, Club Can't Handle Me, and Love is Gone.

He also released some music of his own, including catchy single I Want A Miracle.

The musician's work undoubtedly helped shape the modern dance scene, and for that, fans of the genre are forever in his debt. Riesterer was only 58 years old when he died on 20 August, after a long and difficult battle with cancer.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
