10 Musicians Who Should Release More Music
5. Metallica
Metallica have become a living legacy in the metal world at this point. Ever since their debut, the band has led the charge for heavy metal, which put them amongst the most beloved (and most despised) acts in the genre. While they may have several classics across every one of their records, the amount of material they have seems far too small compared to their metal brethren.
In case you forgot, this was the same metal band who released one classic after another within a few years of each other, with Master of Puppets hitting shelves just 2 years after Ride the Lightning. Though there have been missteps over the years with the Load era and St. Anger, it feels like the band have taken studio sabbaticals in the '00s, with fans waiting almost 8 years for Hardwired to Self Destruct to finally come out.
You could argue that the band is focusing on quality over quantity in terms of classics, but given that the band's latest effort on Hardwired was a bit of a mixed bag, it feels like any new material should call for a bit of a shakeup. Metallica have done a lot more good than harm for the metal community, but they just need to do it a little more often if they want to please the die-hard fans.
