3. The Long Walk Back - Just Off Turner
Just Off Turner is one of the most underrated bands of this era. Just Off Turner is an incredible band, and The Long Walk Back is an incredible album. Lead singer Bryan Mounce has a voice that is very reminiscent of James Morrison - the strange, raspy sound that made Morrison stand out is helping Mounce's group step up. Mounce is supported by drummer Eric Gustafson, keyboarder Phil Metzler, and bassist Stephen Andrews. Together, Just Off Turner forms a perfectly moulded, finely crafted gem of a band. Their lyrics are meaningful and thought-out; their instrumentals are simple but highly appealing; and the vocals (both lead and background) all mesh together beautifully to create a stunning album. Just Off Turner is one of those bands you'd stumble across on YouTube and then fall in love with. In my case, it was Pandora, but still - the Arkansas-based group has gotten better and better over the years, even (somehow) improving from their flawless 2007 album The Long Walk Back (which I didn't think was possible!). Grace yourself with the stunning presence of Just Off Turner. Here's a live version of their song 'Ghost Town' off of The Long Walk Back. http://youtu.be/lKy2zTiBnUM
