10 Must-Hear Dave Grohl Songs

6. Everlong €“ Foo Fighters

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBG7P-K-r1Y Foo Fighters started after Kurt Cobain died and Dave Grohl was looking for a new musical project. He recorded their first album almost entirely by himself but, not wanting to go solo, he formed the Foo Fighters. Once the band was together, they recorded a second album, The Colour and The Shape, which featured the song Everlong. Not only is the song amazing, but the video is brilliant too. It€™s a parody of the 1981 film, The Evil Dead. However, the Foo Fighters version has significantly less dismembered bodies and a lot more dream-work; using the idea of dreams within dreams years before Inception was cool. Not that the song needed a creative video €“ it can easily stand on its own. As well as both soft sounds and thrashing guitar riffs, Everlong uses the spoken word. Grohl recorded himself speaking three times and mashed the recordings together, creating a brilliant whispering sound which has left fans guessing over the true origins of the words for years.
