2. Comfort To Me - Amyl And The Sniffers (2021)

If there's two things the Aussies have kept alive, it's the mullet and good old fashioned punk rock. This group took their name from amyl nitrite - that's poppers to you and me. Talking to the BBC, frontwoman Amy Taylor explained the inspiration "In Australia we call poppers, Amyl. - So, you sniff it, it lasts for 30 seconds and then you have a headache - and that's what we're like!". It's a pretty decent analogy. Their music is fast past and fun, but if you indulge too much you might kill a few brain cells...

Amy Taylor is punk through and through. She might be a tiny little blonde from a small town Down Under, but she's got a furious energy. You can all but hear her jumping around the studio as she half shouts/half scream through the mic.

Taylor's vocals will immediately remind you of the powerhouse Poly Styrene, from X-Ray Spex. This is all about having fun and not giving a damn who cares. Security, hears Taylor reasoning with a bouncer to let her in a pub, as she insists "I'm not looking for trouble, I'm looking for love". Guided By Angels, follows much the same theme in terms of format - with riff driven garage rock, giving a back drop for Taylor to chant about her untampered lust for life.

Trust the Aussies to keep things upbeat during a global pandemic.

Before engrossing myself in the written word, I spent several years in the TV and film industry. During this time I became proficient at picking things up, moving things and putting things down again.
