10 Notable Artists With Incomplete Catalogs On Spotify

3. Bob Seger

Bob Seger has sold over 50 million albums, according to the RIAA, and seven of his studio efforts have been certified multi-platinum. A lot of Seger's catalog - including 1970's Mongrel, 1971's Brand New Morning and 1974's Seven - is entirely out of print, not available on CD or vinyl. Currently, Seger's 2014 album Ride Out, as recorded for Capitol Records, cannot be streamed on Spotify.

Strangely, the deluxe edition of his most recent full-length for Capitol, 2017's I Knew You When, is available for streaming. The copyright notice for I Knew You When lists "Hideout Records & Distributors, Inc." as the licensee to Capitol's parent company, UMG Recordings, Inc.

That verbiage implies that Seger is entirely in control of at least some of his music and directly choosing to limit his distribution.

While the Seger catalog on Spotify is incomplete, you can still listen to classic rock radio staples like Old Time Rock & Roll, Night Moves, Turn The Page, and Against The Wind. Spotify also has Metallica's hit cover of Turn The Page, Seger's collaborations with Kid Rock and Three Doors Down, and his contribution to the Beverly Hills Cop II soundtrack.
