10 Often Forgotten Nu Metal Bands

5. Kittie

It seems a bit sexist to highlight now that Kittie made waves for being an all-female fronted band. Pop bands did it, why not metal?

But it's not a detriment to say that it worked in their favour, as it was a mostly male band-driven genre. Morgan Lander proved she could scream with the best of them, backed by some solid tunes in their arsenal.

Formed in 1994 by sisters Morgan and Mercedes Lander, along with some school friends, it was a whole six years later that debut album, Spit, came out. Off the back of a tour with Slipknot, good things were happening for Kittie.

But, over time, several line-up changes impeded tours and recordings, resulted in a somewhat scattered discography over the years. Until recently, the band were still touring.

Yet that came to a head in 2017, as the band has been on indefinite hiatus following the death of bassist Trish Doan early that year.

Veteran member Mercedes Lander has said the future of the band is uncertain at the moment, out of respect for carrying on without Doan.
