10 One-Hit Wonder Bands From The 90s That Still Rock

http://youtu.be/RNc45FTenhg Biggest Hit: Popular (1996) Nada Surf have been consistently crafting some of the best power pop songs of the last three decades, but all most people will ever remember them for is the Talking Heads-meets-Weezer novelty hit "Popular," arguably the worst song in the band's extensive discography. It's a bit of overt satire (that most listeners mistook for earnest goofiness) from an otherwise insightful, subtle band. No other band has produced such consistent jangle-pop as Nada Surf and flown so far under the radar despite that fact. If you put Death Cab For Cutie, Spoon, and Jimmy Eat World in a blender and hit puree, that's the recipe for the delicious cocktail that is 2002's Let Go, an excellent place to start in Nada Surf's catalogue. There aren't any wild musical detours, just a bunch of solid tunes. Much like the changing of the leaves in Autumn or the first sip of your favorite cocktail, any new Nada Surf album is cause for excitement because even though you know what to expect, it still manages to knock your socks off every time.
