10 Overrated Rock Music Acts Of The 2010s

3. Imagine Dragons

When Awolnation released the single Sail in 2010 it felt like a refreshing take on electronic rock. Fat bass lines, double bass drums, ominous synth melodies and huge vocals. That track had a vibe. Then Imagine Dragons jumped on the hype (two years later) with a hole album of the stuff. It just seemed like overkill.

Imagine Dragons took what Aowlnation had done and used heavily reverberating synth lines and earth shattering drum beats to pound the concept into the dust. It used to be cool to dislike Coldplay and Nickleback, but now Imagine Dragons are becoming this generations most reviled band. It almost seems unfair, they're just trying to making catchy pop music, but damn is it wearing thin.

A lot of the hate these guys receive can be laid at the feet of Billboards Hot Rock Songs of the Decade. Imagine Dragons take up the top three spots. Nothing about that sits right, you can barely call these guys rock. They might play instruments but the guitar and bass has been lost in all the clipping synthesises and overpowering vocals.

We're all just tired of it.
