10 Perfect 1960s Rock Albums With No Bad Songs

6. Highway 61 Revisited - Bob Dylan

Not many other humans on this Earth will know what it's like to have the kind of star power Bob Dylan had. Almost on the same level as the Beatles among the youth, Dylan was becoming the snide poet that was saying everything that we wanted to hear and was going to lead us into the next phase of our lives. When you put all that responsibility on one man though, don't be surprised when you're hit with a few curveballs.

After testing the waters with going electric on his last album Bringing It All Back Home, Highway 61 Revisited saw Dylan fully embracing rock and roll and leaving his folk roots behind. Despite everyone calling him a traitor to his original sound, this was the kind of rebellious spirit that we needed around this time. Along with castoffs towards the press like Ballad of a Thin Man, songs like Desolation Row show just how dangerous living on your own can be.

We should have seen it coming from the opener Like a Rolling Stone though, having a much warmer sound than the entirety of the record and containing some of Dylan's most brilliant wordplay of his career. As opposed to just leading us into the next generation, this is what happens when the rebel decides that the resistance isn't going to work out after all. At this point, you're on your own.
