10 Perfect 1960s Rock Albums With No Bad Songs

4. Are You Experienced - The Jimi Hendrix Experience

As far as rock was concerned, the blues was the most dirty sound that you could possibly get out of a guitar. Ever since the Who broadened the playing field through sheer volume though, it was time for every band to get louder and nastier in their presentation. Then again, it took the true gods of the genre to combine the noise with some of the most tasteful playing on Earth.

Originating in the British club scene, Jimi Hendrix felt like a bolt of lightning whenever you saw him, taking bits and pieces from rock, soul, and blues and turning it into its own unique genre of music. Through just his guitar playing, Hendrix felt like he was communicating with his instrument, getting out different emotions that you could never really put into words but worked just as well through sounds.

The songs themselves were also some of the most forward thinking music of the time, from Purple Haze breaking down the door of the psychedelic movement to eventually The Wind Cries Mary showing the more intimate side of Hendrix. It's no surprise that whenever Hendrix played, legend has it that you could see the front of the stage wet with tears from all of the guitarists in the crowd. Once you see something like that in action, you know that there's no way you're going to compare to it.
