10 Perfect 1960s Rock Albums With No Bad Songs

3. Led Zeppelin II - Led Zeppelin

It's about time that most of us admit that the British Blues Boom tended to be a little bit shallow. Though there were some musicians who could play their asses off, they were nothing compared to the classics that they were cribbing from like Muddy Waters and Albert King. You needed something extra to actually stand out, and Led Zeppelin definitely got into some dark magic on their second record.

Outside of the bluesy covers like Bring It On Home, this was the first Zeppelin record that announced who they were in full. After testing the waters with their first record, Jimmy Page became one of the masters of the guitar riff, putting together little snippets of musical phrases and turning them into pure gold on songs like Whole Lotta Love and Heartbreaker. There was also a more intellectual side to things as well, with songs like Ramble On being inspired by Tolkien mythology rather than just your typical party song.

Considering all of the firsts that this album set, it almost feels like it deserves to be in its own time and place separate from the '60s. Because when you think of the prime era of '60s rock, this is nowhere near the sounds of Woodstock. This was basically just a preview as to what the '70s were going to sound like a few months early.
