10 Perfect 1970s Rock Albums With No Bad Songs

8. Exile On Main St. - Rolling Stones

Most of the classic rock bands tend to have certain periods of their catalog where they do no wrong. It happened to Stevie Wonder...it happened to the Beatles...just those run of albums that stand as something absolutely untouchable. While the Rolling Stones did have their respective run as well, Exile on Main St. shows them at a bit of a crossroads in their career.

Coming off of the album Sticky Fingers, rock and roll's original bad boys actually had to flee their home country and be held up in France at the time to get away from the vicious tax laws. Being truly in exile, there was no other way of life than just being held up in the countryside making some of the best music you know how.

Across this double disc is practically a smorgasbord of everything that made the Stones what they were in their heyday, from the rough and tumble rock and roll of Rip This Joint to even letting Keith Richards take the mic for half of the song Happy. This is also one of the most country leaning Stones records, especially when you get to the heartbreaking ballads like Sweet Virginia. Whether it's blues, country, or just plain old rock and roll, this is the kind of music that's reserved for people that are on the wrong side of the tracks and are damn proud of it.
