10 Perfect '90s Rock Albums That Are Ridiculously Long

2. Be Here Now - Oasis

Towards the end of 1996, Oasis seemed to be on the verge of becoming what they had talked themselves up to be in the days of Definitely Maybe. Though no one could have predicted their overnight success at the time, What's the Story Morning Glory proved that their star making moment wasn't just a fluke, creating songs that evoked the magic of the '60s in a far more natural way. For Noel though, all bets were hinging on the third record, where they really started to play with what they could do.

Already known as the greatest band in Britain, Be Here Now is them trying to live up to that title by making some of the most bombastic tracks of their career. Made in some of the biggest studios in the world, every song on this album really makes you feel like you're listening to the greatest band on Earth, with songs that are stretched out well beyond the traditional pop song length. Outside of the reprise of All Around the World, there isn't one song on here that runs below the 3 minute mark, with half of them reaching well over 7 minutes.

While most of the songs have a great construction behind them, Noel has had some issues with just how overblown the sound of the record is, blaming it on the fact that both the band and producer Owen Morris were out of their mind on drugs during the making of the album. Oasis were a hit making machine at the best of times, but this is the one record where you start to see a few cracks in the foundation.
