10 Perfect Albums That Blended Different Music Genres

4. Stankonia - Outkast

By the time that OutKast entered the '00s, they had already built up a legacy that no other hip hop artist could touch. Even if some fans weren't thrilled with the idea of Andre 3000 singing instead of rapping on a couple of tracks, the chemistry between him and Big Boi was airtight on records like Aquemini, taking the smooth sounds of R&B and soul and putting a hip hop tinge to it all. If fans were already confused about their wild left turns, no one was ready for what happened on Stankonia.

Going for bangers instead of vibes, most of this record is about getting you as hyped as possible, while also sprinkling in tracks like Miss Jackson to keep everything on level ground. While Big Boi can always be counted on for an amazing verse, the real magic behind this record is when they start to go way outside of their comfort zone, embracing rock on Gasoline Dreams and sounding like they're trying to make the hype anthem to end them all on BOB.

Aside from the more energetic tracks though, songs like Toilet Tisha actually pointed towards a much more serious issue, carrying over the kind of morose feeling that was left over from records like ATLiens or introspective tracks like Da Art of Storytellin. This might have been one of the last times that Andre and Big Boi were on the same creative wavelength, but this was the kind of sendoff that all good artists hope for.
