10 Perfect Albums That Broke Up The Band

9. The Battle of Los Angeles - Rage Against the Machine

The political climate around the '00s seemed to be the perfect timing for a new Rage Against the Machine project. Most of their albums up to this point already had some heavy messages about how points of authority treat the average man on the street, and now they actually had a reason to let their fans know of the terrors behind the scenes. That's all that most of us wanted, but you also have to wonder where you would go from there.

From the day of its release, The Battle of Los Angeles was already miles ahead of any other album to come out in 2000, winning different Grammys and still having a foothold in the cultural zeitgeist, with songs like Guerrilla Radio becoming one of the biggest hits that the band ever had. When it came time to actually tour with the new project though, the band had already started to get into fights with each other, being unsure what manner they wanted to deliver their message.

As much as the members of Rage agreed over their political mindsets, finding a unique package to sell that mindset was a disaster, which ended with the band coming to blows for something as simple as T-shirt designs. While the next album Renegades was able to tide fans over with Rage-ified versions of their favorite rock and hip hop songs, we would not be seeing any more original music for the next few years.
