10 Perfect Alternative Rock Albums With No Bad Songs

8. Blood Sugar Sex Magik - Red Hot Chili Peppers (1991)

Psychedelic guitar tones; funked out bass lines; unwavering drum rhythms; and a f**k load of sex crazed bravado, this album hits hard.

After several years making a name for themselves, as bunch of funky wild men, the Red Hot Chili Peppers finally achieved widespread critical and financial success. With the help of production maestro Rick Rubin, the band was able to pull together their talent into focused effort, to create an album that displayed their true potential. Previous records from the Chilis had been met with a lukewarm reception. Live, they were hailed as one of the most exciting groups on the LA underground scene. But, they hadn't been able to carry over their virtues onto an album as successfully as this one.

John Frusciante finally made his mark, as guitar player to be reckoned with; with explosive chord progressions that demonstrated his love of Jimi Hendrix, and tender more intricate guitar melodies that proved he wasn't a one trick pony. Tracks like Funky Monks, blended the easy motion of funk with a down and dirty injections of hard rock. Under The Bridge, showcased Anthony Keidis was more then just a cocksure lothario. Give It Away, showed Flea could write memorable bass lines, as well as play like a human slap bass machine; and Chad Smith's ability as a drummer was displayed across the board.
