10 Perfect Alternative Rock Albums With No Bad Songs

7. Go Farther In Lightness - Gang Of Youths (2017)

The second album from Aussie alt rocker, Gang Of Youths, is nothing if not triumphant. The album opens with a Billy Joel type piano number, that soon explodes into a euphoric extravaganza of blaring drums and joyous guitars. David Le'aupepe's lyrics, defiantly express his resolve to carry on in the face of existential fear.

The album only continues in this vein, with tracks like, What Can I Do If The Fire Goes Out: a song just as pumped full of momentum. The album reaches a hight point with Achilles Come Down; a number imbued with a frantic strings section, that adds a layer of grandiosity. But, the orchestral moments are not limited to just the one track - a number of instrumental interludes serve to punctuate some of the more raucous moments.

Le'aupepe's lyrics reveal his struggle with topics that question the very nature of existence. Far from being weighed down by his oppressive revelations, however, he expresses a vigour and yearning for life. There's the type of depth that you'll often find in a record by The National, but the optimistic melodies are more reminiscent of something you'd hear from Of Monsters and Men.

This album is wordy and the themes go to some pretty dark places, but they always seem to find away back to the light. If you haven't jumped on the hype, check these guys out.
