10 Perfect Beatles Songs From Their Solo Careers
8. It Don't Come Easy - Ringo Starr
When you look at the long history of Beatles solo careers, some fans like to politely exclude Ringo every now and again. The guy was never one for being a songwriter, and he always felt more at home behind the kit rather than being the frontman of his own group. Seeing how the band was breaking up though, Ringo needed a hit, and he actually got a few of the Fabs' help to get him there.
Just like he helped on the song Octopus Garden, George Harrison was one of the collaborators for It Don't Come Easy, which is just the kind of optimistic song that suits Ringo perfectly. Seeing how Mr. Starkey was always the knockabout uncle type in the group, he brings a lot of personality to this song, talking about how you have to put a few miles on your soul before you're able to sing the blues like him.
Granted, is this one of the all time classic Beatles tracks? No...not by a long shot. If you were to make a Ringo single for the next chapter of the Beatles though, this has that kind of classic touch that people would recognize in an instant. Even with this imaginary Beatles' reunion, it's never going to be the same if you don't have Ringo behind the kit. Songwriter or not, Ringo was the beating heart of the band, and without him counting everything in every time, the Fabs would not have worked.
