10 Perfect Compilation Albums In Rock Music History
1. LOVE - The Beatles
As we entered a new millennium, the idea of getting any new Beatles music practically felt like a pipe dream. It was already a miracle that we got every little scrap of music that they recorded on The Beatles Anthology, so trying to get more just seemed out of reach. When Cirque de Soleil brought together a Beatles themed show though, Giles Martin picked up right where his father left off and gave us a Fab Four soundscape.
While we've heard most of these Beatles songs before in past versions, the way that they are interwoven into each other on this album is a work of genius. Rather than just making a journey through their career, there's hardly anything from their moptop days on the final record, instead focusing on their artsy styles in their later years like A Day in the Life and I Am the Walrus. Although most of the songs on here will be recognizable to you, the way that Giles remixed them into mashups makes for the ultimate Fab experience.
A song like Yesterday may have already been perfect, but hearing the delicate sounds of the guitar playing in Blackbird before it just makes it that much more special. That's not the only time either, like when Mr. Kite crashes into the droning riff from I Want You (She's So Heavy) or when the vocals of Within You Without You are placed on top of the backing track for Tomorrow Never Knows. While this is by no means the first Beatles album to start with, it makes for a nice finish once you've gone through their complete body of work.
